For Brasileiro Specialty Coffees, certification is an extension of the work that is already being conducted on the family’s farms, that is, the production of top quality coffee with sustainability, social responsibility, concern for the environment and food safety in order to deliver a food product that respects both the environment and social relations.

UTZ KAPEH
All over the world, consumers’ ideas as to what constitutes quality in coffee have been expanding. In addition to quality and flavor, the conditions in which the product was produced are also important. The Utz Kapeh code requires the Fazenda Santana and Fazenda Folhados to comply with more than 180 items. Similarly, food legislation in Europe, the United States and Japan is changing so as to require transparency of origin and traceability of the final product. All lots of coffee produced on the farms of Brasileiro Specialty Coffees are fully traceable. The Utz Kapeh program guarantees safety at all points in the coffee production chain, ensuring the supply of responsibly produced coffee to competitive markets. It furnishes a reply to two key questions for the global coffee industry:

  1. What is the origin of the coffee?
  2. And how was it produced?

RAINFOREST ALLIANCE
The Santana and Folhados estates are members of the select group of Brazilian farms certified according to the Rainforest Alliance standards, audited by the Instituto de Manejo e Certificação Florestal e Agrícola - Imaflora.

The Rainforest Alliance establishes rigorous criteria for the preservation of the environment that require growers to take special measures in order to achieve certification. In addition, this certification incorporates social and economic factors related to production, such as workers’ rights and farm efficiency, helping to improve farm management and to generate economic benefits while providing dignified living conditions and access to clean water, education and health care for workers and their families.

The Rainforest Alliance Certified ™ seal assures customers that their coffee is produced on a farm that is committed to the preservation of the environment and the welfare of workers.

CACCER – 4 estrelas – Fazenda Santana e Fazenda Folhados

The Cerrado Mineiro region was the first coffee growing area to receive official recognition in Brazil, by a decree of the government of the State of Minas Gerais. Today, the mode of production used in the Cerrado is considered to be one of the most technified in the world, as shown by the high yields achieved. This coffee is classified not only by cup quality, according to international standards set by the Specialty Coffee Association of America (SCAA), but also according to its origin in a certain growing area.

The Santana and Folhados estates comply with strict rules regarding the coffee production process. For this reason, these farms are certified at the four star level, the highest possible classification.
